No design or funk! Watch out for Hrithik, Varun, Sushant, and other actors go de-glam in their next

We won’t be wrong in saying that Bollywood is going realistic with films, well in some cases at least. Actors and actresses these days don’t bat an eyelid if their character and the script demand them to shed their glamorous image. This can also be attributed to an industry overhaul and global competition. We’ve seen Bollywood actresses like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra, and many more go de-glam to resemble the characters they essayed in their films. Now get ready to see some handsome hunks of the tinsel town give up their glamorous avatars to get into the skin of their characters and do justice to their roles…

Hrithik Roshan

He may be known as the Greek God of Bollywood, but trust Hrithik Roshan to go the extra mile to do justice to the part he plays in his films. Be it the dance moves, the stunt scenes, the emotional scenes or otherwise, Hrithik is known to perform his part to the T. Even during Kaabil, we know how he worked on his voice to mimic Amitabh Bachchan, and he chose to not see Yami Gautam’s face throughout the shoot as he plays a blind character. Now get ready to see him shed his macho avatar, as he gears up to play Bihar-based mathematician Anand Kumar in Super 30. He is currently shooting in Varanasi, and the leaked photos from the sets see him in a younger avatar. He sports a blue shirt and moustache, carrying a backpack and standing beside a boat, with a rugged face and tired expression on the face. So unlike Greek Gods, no? Varun Dhawan

After giving his fans a double dose of style in Judwaa 2, Varun Dhawan has two films in his kitty – October and Sui Dhaga. While we saw Varun flaunt his syle in Judwaa 2, we are eagerly waiting to see what he has to offer in Sui Dhaga. In the first look of the film that was released recently, we saw both Varun and Anushka Sharma sporting distinctly unglamorous avatars. That is only fair given that they play tailors in the film. Varun especially, who plays the the character of young man Mauji, takes you back to a bygone era with his vintage moustached look. Almost gives a feel of time-travel, right?

Ranveer Singh

After playing a terrible evil incarnate character like Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat, Ranveer Singh is in for a drastic transformation for his next role. He plays an underdog who rises from the slums of Mumbai to become a rapper, in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy. Both Ranveer and Alia Bhatt have gone completely de-glam for the film. In the first look that was revealed recently, we saw Ranveer dressed in a hoodie, gazing off into the distance, looking pensive. We know how Ranveer can fit into any character he plays and we are much excited to see him shed his glam avatar for this one.

Shahid Kapoor

Another actor who is basking in the glory of Padmaavat and is also set to drop the garb of glamour is Shahid Kapoor. The actor has already started shooting for Batti Gul Meter Chalu, the comedy-drama film set in Uttarakhand. While we await some good stills from the sets, we definitely know it will be worth the wait to see Shahid in his rugged avatar, devoid of any stylish costumes or make-up.

Sushant Singh Rajput

Out of all the interesting films lapped up by Sushant Singh Rajput, the one that’s most intriguing is certainly Son Chiriya in which he plays a Chambal dacoit. In the first look that was shared, we saw Sushant in his rawest elements giving the right feels of a dacoit. Talking about his experience in the ravines inan interview, he had said, “Shooting for Abhishek Chaubey’s film is on full swing. I came here in Chambal early to do a bit of warm up for the film. Visiting ravines, talking to locals, working on dialect and inflection and a bit of cut-off from everything before the shoot helps keep the right things in perspective.” Don’t you agree?
