The live-wire of Bollywood Ranveer Singh has started prepping up for Rohit Shetty’s upcoming action-entertainer Simmba. The Padmaavat actor will undergo a physical transformation to play a kickass cop in the film. Talking about it physique requirement for the film Ranveer Singh said, “Rohit Shetty Sir has told me a long time back and was very clear of the kind of physique he wanted Simmba to have. So, now it’s time to put the blinkers on and put my head down and work hard and deliver the physique that Rohit Shetty Sir wants!”
Well, this is not the first time where the actor is undergoing a physical transformation for the film. Right from Band Baaja Baarat to his recent blockbuster Padmaavat, Ranveer’s character has demanded a physical transformation and he has done that convincingly. The 32-year old actor even quoted on that and said, “Having gone through physical transformation for pretty much every character and every film, I am aware of how my body responds, of course coming out of injury and embarking on a physical transformation process presents an extra set of challenges but I have also transformed physically coming out of a shoulder injury before so I am aware of what I am in for.” (Also Read: Deadpool 2: 25 thoughts that popped into my head while watching Ranveer Singh’s dubbed version)
He further added, “It involves a little bit of more work than one would do if one was starting of the process without an injury. The good part is that I have been into weight lifting since I was 16 years old so my muscle memory is very good. To go from lean to bulk, I had the support and advantage of my muscle’s own memory. I have a very responsive physique and I am lucky that I have that.”
The actor is training under Llyod Steven, who has previously trained Ranveer for Gunday and Padmaavat. Talking about Lloyd Ranveer said, “I am also reuniting with Lloyd – we worked on Leela, partly for Gunday & Padmaavat and completely for Befikre. He is the best in the business and I am glad to have him on-board for Simmba. He has just done a super successful physical transformation with Jr. NTR for SS Rajamouli’s film – so I am excited to be back with him again.”
On the other hand, Lloyd talked about his plan for Ranveer and Simmba and said, “We’ve begun the first week of Ranveer’s physique preparation and Rohit Shetty has given us a very specific “look” he would like Ranveer to achieve for the role of Simmba. So, this next month is going to be a challenge for us due to the fact he had to lose a lot of weight and muscle mass for his role in Gully Boy and of course, there was the unexpected shoulder injury which put him out of action completely for an entire month. So, we obviously have to proceed with extreme caution regarding that element. Ranveer will be following a very strict weight training and nutrition plan, having worked with Ranveer a few times before I have no doubt, thanks to his work ethic we will achieve the desired look for Simmba.”
Rohit Shetty’s Simmba is set to go on floors on July 7 and will be shot in Hyderabad, Goa and Mumbai. The film also stars Sara Ali Khan in a lead role and is co-produced by Karan Johar. The film is set to hit the screens on December 28.
